The appointment demonstrates OUTsurance's confidence in its people and its commitment to building future leaders from within the organisation.
Francois succeeds Jan Hofmeyr, who has served as OUTsurance Group CFO for the past 18 years. During this time, Jan played a key role in helping shape the business and build the strong financial foundation that supports OUTsurance today. He will remain in the role until October 2026 to ensure a smooth handover.
For Francois, the appointment marks an exciting new chapter in a journey that began when he joined the Group in 2018. Over the past eight years, he has held a number of senior finance and operational leadership roles and has contributed to the Group's strategy, financial performance and long-term growth.
Group Chief Executive Officer Marthinus Visser welcomed the appointment.
‘Francois is a highly respected leader with a deep understanding of our business and the role strong financial management plays in its success. During his time at OUTsurance, he has consistently demonstrated sound judgement, integrity and a commitment to doing what's right for the long term. We are pleased to appoint him as Group CFO and look forward to his contribution as we continue to grow and strengthen the Group.’
While stepping into one of the Group's most senior leadership roles, Francois is quick to acknowledge the people who have helped build the business over many years.
‘It is a privilege to step into the role of Group CFO at OUTsurance, where we have such strong foundations, exceptional people and a clear sense of purpose," he said. "I do so with deep respect for those who have helped build the business to where it is today, and with excitement for what lies ahead.'
Francois is widely respected for his collaborative leadership style and his belief that strong teams are at the heart of any successful business.
Outside of work, Francois is a passionate cyclist and believes many of the principles that underpin success in sport also apply to business.
"Cycling has taught me that success is rarely about one individual. It comes from preparation, trust, resilience and teamwork," he said.
As he prepares to take on the role, Francois remains focused on the people behind the business's success.
"I look forward to working alongside our talented teams across the Group as we continue creating long-term value for our customers, stakeholders and the communities we serve."
The transition also provides an opportunity to recognise Jan Hofmeyr's significant contribution to the business. During his 18 years as Group CFO, Jan helped guide the Group through a period of sustained growth and played an important role in building the strong financial position the business enjoys today.
As Francois prepares for this new challenge, he brings a wealth of experience, a solid understanding of the business and a leadership approach grounded in trust, resilience and teamwork. Building on the solid foundations already in place, he looks forward to help guide OUTsurance’s continued growth and success in the years ahead.
