We cover hail damage as standard
Next time you’re stuck in what feels like an apocalyptic hail storm, relax…OUTsurance will pay for the damages to your vehicle! In contrast to many other insurance companies, we cover hail damage as part of our standard comprehensive car insurance package. If you’re living in Mpumalanga, Gauteng, North West or the Northern Cape, this is very good news indeed!
You may also be interested to know that our comprehensive buildings insurance package will have you covered in case of storm damage to your building (i.e. damage caused by hail, gale-force winds, or flooding). Don’t wait until it’s too late, chat to one of our advisors today to get your buildings insurance sorted once and for all.
Tip 1: If you’re on the road, try to find some sort of shelter such as a bridge or petrol station where you can park safely.
Tip 2: If it’s safe to do so, pull off the road (the hail will cause less damage when you’re not moving at a high speed).
Tip 3: If you’re unable to park in your garage, layer your vehicle with a thick blanket to minimise the impact of the hailstones.
- Check and unblock all the gutters where necessary
- Check all walls and windows for cracks and repair where necessary
- Check walls for flaking or bubbling paint as this may be a sign of dampness in the walls and when fixed it could prevent future damage

Yes. It’s completely up to you whether you’d like to submit a claim or not. If you want to repair the vehicle yourself, you’re welcome to do so. Just keep in mind that we will not be able to guarantee the quality of workmanship as would be the case when you use one of our approved service providers.
Due to high claim volumes, the repairs process may take a little longer than usual. This being said, we have a long-standing relationship with our list of handpicked service providers and we’ll do our best to get your vehicle repaired as soon as possible. All repairs are guaranteed for a period of 12 months.
