Last week we reported that Outsurance will be doing a companywide Ice Bucket Challenge to help raise awareness around MND/ALS as well as donations for the J9 Foundation.
Luckily for all the OUTies (OUTsurance staff) that participated in this challenge we had a gorgeous sunny 24°C Friday afternoon that helped to take some of the sting of the ice cold water away. Many across all departments made the effort to join in and help raise awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) also referred to as Motor Neurone Disease (MND) (or Lou Gehrig's disease in the United States) – which as you may know is a neurodegenerative disorder with various causes as well as raise some much needed donations for the J9 Foundation.
Thanks to the generosity of all the staff OUTsurance raised R3, 748.50 which was graciously matched by SHSAO which meant that together R7497 was raised in this challenge and will go to the J9 Foundation.
The challenge however doesn’t stop here, to keep this campaign alive and help raise much needed funds for this amazing cause OUTsurance nominates Kuben Pillay (Board member and PRIMEDIA chairman) , Andrew Cooper and Linda Basson (from 94.7), Jonathan Cook and Krishna Naidoo (from etv), you have 24 hours!
