OUTsurance launches Staff Helping South Africa Out campaign

OUTsurance today launched their much anticipated Staff Helping South Africa Out campaign. The campaign, which showcases OUTsurance staff rolling up their sleeves and helping in their communities was launched in the Sunday Times and Rapport newspapers on Sunday 5 August. "We are very excited about what our staff did to help SA, and the way we have been able to showcase this in the campaign material", said Peter Cronje, head of Marketing for OUTsurance.

The campaign was introduced to all 1,500 staff members on 9 May. "We asked the staff how they would like to help South Africa out, and committed a certain amount of funding to these projects", Cronje added. The OUTsurance staff members were asked to complete a project entry form with all the relevant details. Of the many proposals received, 24 were chosen to present their project proposal to the executive committee. "Based on the social merit and practicality of the project as well as the passion of the team presenting the project, we managed to choose 8 of the 24 that we were going to have filmed for TV commercials", Cronje went on to say. "It was certainly no easy task and there was much debate amongst the executive committee as to which eight we should put on TV. There is so much need out there, and so many great projects, and it would have been great if we could have filmed them all", he said.

The 8 projects that will be shown on South African TV stations, and that will appear in magazines, newspapers and billboards across the country, vary immensely in social impact and feel. "Some of the projects are really emotional and deal with tough issues such as child abuse and Aids, and others are a lot lighter and show OUTsurance staff helping out with things like giving training to school leavers on interview and CV skills and helping township working horses. All of them however share a common feeling and thread being that ordinary South Africans can do small things to help SA out."

The campaign is backed up by a dedicated interactive website on which visitors can view all the commercials and 2-3 minute internet movies on each of the 8 filmed projects. The remainder of the 24 projects are supported by a photo gallery and write up of the project.

In closing, Cronje said "OUTsurance is proud to have supported these projects, but most of all, we are proud that we have such compassionate and caring staff members, that are prepared to give of their own time, resources and energy to help South Africa out."
