Global human resources authority recognises OUTsurance

OUTsurance is now an official Top Employer in South Africa. This prestigious certification is the result of a comprehensive programme run by the Top Employers Institute, a global authority in recognising excellence in people practices.

The programme extensively assesses, evaluates and validates (via a third-party audit) a company’s human resources practices across a number of areas and benchmarks it against other organisations and general best practice.

The categories and sub-categories on which the programme focuses, are as follows:

  • Steer: Business Strategy, People Strategy and Leadership
  • Shape: Organisation & Change, Digital HR and Work Environment
  • Attract: Employer Branding, Talent Acquisition and On-boarding
  • Develop: Performance, Career and Learning
  • Engage: Well-being, Engagement, Rewards & Recognition and Off-boarding
  • Unite: Values, Ethics & Integrity, Diversity & Inclusion and Sustainability

On the certification, OUTsurance’s Chief People Officer, Suren Naidoo, stated, “We are extremely proud of this official acknowledgement. We are, and always will be, a people-brand, driven by a comprehensive set of core values that foster an extremely unique and dynamic environment. Just ask any of our almost 5 000 staff!”

Danie Matthee, OUTsurance Chief Executive Officer, agrees. “It’s true that we are famous for our culture… and it’s by no means an accident. In fact, we’ve spent over two decades constantly fine tuning how we recruit, nurture, reward and recognise our most precious assets – our people. There’s a definite ‘gees’ (spirit) here at OUTsurance, which is unique to our culture.”

Naidoo continues, “Generally speaking, we like to hire based on attitude and teach skill. This creates a workforce that is extremely passionate and has allowed us to create long-term careers for many people who started from very humble beginnings. The best part is that we’re continuing to grow, despite the pandemic. In fact, over 18 months, we’ve hired around 900 new people. And there’s still room for more – not just in our world-class call centre, but in other key departments across our various premises throughout South Africa. Take a look and you’ll see some incredible job opportunities in our IT development shop and in our growing face-to-face salesforce for our business insurance, life insurance and investment products.”
