If you're planning a trip of a lifetime to neighbouring countries or further north in Africa, ask about OUT-in-Africa, for peace-of-mind insurance on cross-country roads.
We'll cover your vehicles (motorcars, 4x4s, motorcycles, caravans, trailers and watercraft) for any mechanical or electrical breakdown as well as emergency repairs to get you back on the road as soon as possible.
In the unfortunate event of injury, we'll cover the cost of any medical repatriation and inter-hospital transfers, emergency accommodation as well as repatriation (i.e. return) of the vehicle and its occupants.
What is covered with OUT-in-Africa?
Loss or damage to the vehicle caused by any of the perils as part of your comprehensive car insurance.

Repatriation of the vehicle and its occupants to South Africa is limited to R65 000 for any one incident caused by any of the noted perils, as well as mechanical or electrical failure of the vehicle, while outside South Africa.
Mechanical and electrical breakdown cover for the vehicle and watercraft, including the anti-theft device/s, while outside South Africa. Cover is limited to the costs of airborne technical assistance and additional labour costs incurred because the vehicle is outside South Africa. Cover is limited to R7 500 for any one incident
- Emergency accommodation while outside South Africa is limited to R1 000 per person per day and R16 000 for any one OUTsured incident.
- If the vehicle is involved in an accident while outside South Africa, emergency repairs may be effected in order to get the vehicle functional and mobile. The cost of repairs is limited to R7 500.

A 4x4 enthusiast will know the feeling of taking their vehicle on the road less travelled! Your 4x4 is already comprehensively covered in case of loss or damage resulting from an act of nature, fire, theft or hijack, attempted theft or hijack, an accident, intentional damage, and also in instances where you can be held legally liable for causing damage to someone else’s property (i.e. third party cover).
When travelling to Burundi, the DRC (South of Kolwezi), Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Kenya and Angola, make sure you have OUT-in-Africa insurance in place to enjoy full cover for off-road and 4x4 track use

OUTsurance does not offer insurance exclusive to 4x4 vehicles only. Comprehensive car insurance already covers your 4x4 vehicle for full off-road use or when driving on 4x4 tracks, as well as your trailer, caravan, motorcycle, and watercraft against any loss or damage. You can add OUT-in-Africa to your existing OUTsurance car insurance package to enjoy comprehensive cover in extended territories to include cover in the event of a mechanical breakdown. You will also get access to exclusive benefits such as vehicle repatriation, medical repatriation and emergency support services.
No, if you already have comprehensive car insurance in place, you do not need to add OUT-in-Africa insurance if you’re travelling to any of South Africa’s neighbouring countries. However, if you’d like to access any of the benefits associated with OUT-in-Africa cover, you can add OUT-in-Africa at an additional monthly premium.
You can add OUT-in-Africa before you leave for your trip with no minimum period required.
No. OUT-in-Africa is only available to OUTsurance clients who already have comprehensive cover in place. Also, OUTsurance covers 4x4 vehicles as part of our comprehensive car insurance package.
