This winter has been brutal – even more so for those who do not have access to the comforts of a home. The annual OUTsurance's Street Night Project saw a heartwarming display of compassion as employees generously contributed blankets and clothing to provide some warmth to those in need.
Giving back to the community
‘It’s during these very cold winters that you often think about the people living in the streets and what they do to keep warm. We want to make sure that everyone, regardless of their situations has access to a hot meal and a blanket,’ said OUTsurance Staff Helping SA OUT (SHSAO) volunteer, Vicky Raboroko.
‘OUTsurance volunteers came out in numbers to help us distribute the blankets and other items to people in Centurion CBD. We are thankful to everyone who came through to make this project a success and put smiles on people’s faces,’ said SHSAO coordinator, Monica Coetzee
Together we’re making a difference
Organisations such as Mix Telematics, Basileia Patria, Social Upliftment Services and In the Kitchen (ITK) joined hands with SHSAO on this project. Together, they collected, sorted out and helped in the distribution of items such as jackets, sleeping bags, and warm meals.
‘It was wonderful to be able to give back to people who needed our help. Participating in this project is not just about donating and giving back but you're forming meaningful connections with other NGOs and seeing the direct impact of your work.
‘Through OUTsurance staff contributions and donations, we are able to make a difference in the lives of many communities that would otherwise have not access to winter essentials. We would like to thank each and every staff member who helped make this project a huge success,’ Coetzee added.
