A little bit of self-control will go a long way at this time of the month.

It’s January, the end of the month and we’ve all been counting the days, hours and seconds till payday. All the while struggling with pent up cravings to spend spend spend!

2016 Savings Tip #1, when that precious paycheck clears in your account, don’t simply blow it all at once! A little bit of self-control will go a long way at this time of the month. When you’re running on empty, overspending as soon you’re paid is a step backwards.

If the payday spending monster starts to bite, follow this principle - spend what is left after saving instead of saving what is left after spending. Make parting with your savings money an easy transition by having a plan. Budget the necessities and then consider the niceties. Set a goal for your savings collection. This way you’ll enjoy watching the money pile grow and when next month’s paycheck arrives you won’t have inner turmoil about money you can’t spend right away.
