The 2016 OUTsurance KFM Gun Run has attracted the biggest field in the history of the event. Records show that more than 9 000 runners will take part in the half-marathon event on 16 October 2016 with 8 000 runners entering the 10km-race, and around 3 000 people indicating that they will take part in the 5km fun run event.
Entries to the 5km event are still open and entrants are encouraged to register at any Sportsman Warehouse store on the 14th and 15th of October 2016, or on the morning of the event.
KFM Programme Manager, Steve Werner comments, ’We are incredibly excited to have a record field at this year's OUTsurance KFM Gun Run. It's an iconic event on the road running calendar, and we can't wait to join runners and families alike for a great day out in the Cape.’
According to OUTsurance’s Head of Marketing, Peter Cronje, ‘We are proud to be associated with an event that promotes health, fun and fitness. Our aim behind sponsoring this event is to provide Cape Town with a quality, mass participation event that the whole family can enjoy.’
More than 200 children from the event’s official charity, the Anna Foundation, will also be taking part in the 5km event. Carolyn Clark, Marketing and Public Relations Manager at the Foundation says that they regularly take the children to fun runs as part of their very successful sports programme. She adds that events such as these are great for building their self-esteem and that it provides the perfect opportunity for them to show off their running talent, practice their manners and engage with the public.
Runners can collect their race numbers from the Sportsman Warehouse branch where they registered on 14 October (12pm-6pm) and 15 October (9am-4pm).
