What are the typical costs associated with a funeral?

Typical funeral costs explained

At OUTsurance, we’ve put together a funeral plan to help you honour your loved one’s legacy. Our funeral plan makes provision for typical funeral costs like the fee charged by the funeral home, the cost of a coffin, the burial, etc.

How much funeral cover do I need to provide for basic funeral costs?

You can choose your cover amount, from R30 000 up to R100 000, depending on your specific preferences.

We’ve also allowed for more flexibility in that we offer a bonus month for every 12 months of premiums paid. You will also be able to pause your premiums and cover for up to three months without causing the policy to cancel.

You can select optional cash benefits (to the value of R5 000 each) to cover funeral costs like transport for attendees, catering, tombstone, a marquee and after tears.

What are the typical costs associated with a funeral?

The costs associated to a funeral can be significant. If you’ve taken out a funeral plan to cover the cost of your own funeral, it’s just as important to make sure that you’ve covered all the bases as not to leave your family members with unforeseen funeral expenses.

Costs around a funeral include the cost associated with the casket, the grave and the tombstone, as well as the fees that will need to be paid to the undertaker.

In addition, you’ll have to make provision for funeral costs such as transport for attendees, venue hire, the cost for hiring a marquee, food and catering, flowers, and after tears.
