On 20 September 2009, South Africa’s cyclists are in for a real treat with the OUTride (OUTsurance Tshwane Mayoral Ride) moving to its new venue, Rietondale Park.

One of the “jewels” on the local mountain bike calendar is the new OUTsurance Mountain Bike OUTride on 19 September. The event takes place in the koppies of the Necsa facility, which is just 30 minutes west of Pretoria and only a 20 minute drive away from Johannesburg on the road to Hartbeespoort dam.

The MTB OUTride route consists of two laps of 20 kilometres each and riders can choose whether they want to ride 20km or 40km.

The route overlooks the stunning cliff face where Pelinduna Adventures host abseiling and rock climbing and it goes past the historic Gustav Preller House and riders can also look forward to spotting one of the Big Five.

On 20 September 2009, South Africa’s cyclists are in for a real treat with the OUTride (OUTsurance Tshwane Mayoral Ride) moving to its new venue, Rietondale Park.

Jacaranda 94.2's Clayton Robbertze will provide entertainment at Rietondale Park and USN will again do their massive effort at the water point.

South Africa’s top professional riders are also excited about the new venue. “I think that it is rather special to be able to race around a city centre!” said Nic White (Medscheme), one of legends of South African cycling.

Once you’ve completed your event as part of the open/seeded groups, stick around to watch the licensed riders take each other on from 11:00. The elite men and ladies have lots to ride for with Hotspots up for grabs.
