OUTsurance Kfm 94.5 Gun Run: Record field turns out for popular Cape Town event

A record field of 7 000 participants lined up to take part in the OUTsurance Kfm 94.5 Gun Run half marathon, 10 km and 5 km fun run on a beautiful Cape Town morning. The perfect running conditions saw Mr Price athlete Enoch Skosana take line honours and a cheque for R5 000 in the half marathon in a time of 64:38, with Luketz Swartbooi again finishing in second place in 64:48.

Mr Price athlete Moleboheng Mafata won the women's half marathon in 79:29, with Bulelwa Mtshagi placing second [79:46]. Harmony athlete Zolile Bhitane won the 10 km in 28:35 and pocketed R2 000 for his efforts. Most participants recorded personal bests but the course was slightly short due to a marshalling error. Zintle Xiniwe (MP Celt) took the women's race in 32:32.

94.5 Kfm DJ's, "Friends of the Breakfast Team" and their listeners all joined forces for a good cause and took part in the OUTsurance 94.5 Kfm Gun Run to raise R65 000 for Operation Smile. Their efforts raised R50 000, sponsored by OUTsurance, with the runners raising a further R10 000. Race organising club, Atlantic Athletic Club donated a further R5 000 to the official charity.

Operation Smile's regional director, Natalie Miller, said the charity was extremely grateful for the event's contribution and that the generous donation would go towards helping children in this country with facial deformities lead a normal life.
