How does it work?

As an OUTsurance client, you can renew your licence disc online via our app or the client portal on our website. If you’re not registered on our app or portal, you can set up your profile and access the licence disc renewal option.

After you’ve successfully signed up for the Licence Disc Renewal Service, you will receive a quote for the services. Once payment has been made, we’ll start the renewal process.

When your licence disc has been renewed, it will be delivered to your specified address.

When you sign up for the Licence Disc Renewal Service, you will also receive real-time alerts about your fines. You will be able to view, query and manage these fines on our app or website.

What documents will I require?

If you’re renewing the licence disc of a car that’s in your name, we’ll need a copy of the licence disc and a copy of your ID or passport.

If you’re renewing on behalf of another person, we’ll need a copy of the licence disc, a copy of their ID or passport and their proof of address (if different to your proof of address). Note: You will need to confirm that you have received consent to perform the licence disc renewal on behalf of the other person.

What is the cost to renew my licence disc?

For each vehicle renewal, there is a R120 service fee (excluding VAT). The delivery fee is R80 (excluding VAT). These costs are over and above your vehicle’s yearly licencing fees. (This fee is dependent on the number of licences being renewed and the various provincial licencing departments involved in the renewal of various discs).

Any vehicle fines that prevent the renewal of the licence disc will be presented on your quote. The fees to manage these fines depend on the route you decide to take to manage and settle the fines:

  • For normal payable traffic fines, the fee is a R40 flat fee per settled fine.
  • For all No-Admission of Guilt fines, and Elect to go to Court matters, the fee is R3500 which will cover all settlement costs (if any), legal costs, and representations.
  • For a redirection, the fee is a service fee of R100 per infringement.
  • For a withdrawal, the fee is a service fee of R100 per infringement.
Where is the service available?

This service is available to all clients across South Africa.

How long will it take for me to receive the renewed disc?

You can expect delivery of the licence disc 10 days after successful payment. This is reliant on the correct information having been provided upfront in order to facilitate the renewal.

Can I only renew my OUTsured vehicle licence disc/s?

You can renew the licence disc of any vehicle. This includes vehicles insured with us and those that aren’t. You can also renew licences on behalf of family and friends.

You will need to confirm that you have received consent to perform the licence disc renewal on behalf of other people.

How will I be kept informed of the renewal process?

You will be updated on the progress of the renewal via the OUTsurance app and the client portal on our website. We’ll notify you once sign up has been successful, once a quotation is ready for you to review, once your licence disc is renewed, and once it’s been delivered.
