The only thing better than great customer service? Getting superb service that goes beyond your expectations.

The only thing better than great customer service? Getting superb service that goes beyond your expectations. And OUTsurance achieved just that earlier this month, assessing and finalising over 1500 claims within days after a devastating hailstorm hit Pietermaritzburg.

On February 6, the storm – described by one resident as the worst in almost three decades – caused substantial damage to homes and vehicles in the area. According to one OUTsurance client, the hailstones grew from golf-ball-sized stones to jagged pieces of ice as big as cricket balls during the storm. The hail smashed windows, severely dented vehicles and shattered windscreens, and perhaps – most alarmingly – slammed through roof tiles, letting rain into homes and causing massive water damage. The OUTsurance team was on hand to capture footage of the storm and its aftermath and took some time to speak to some of the affected clients and service providers.

By February 10, OUTsurance had received over 1500 claims of hail damage to customers' vehicles and homes. Within a week, all of those claims had been assessed and finalised. Clients said that OUTsurance responded to their claims within hours of them being made, and assessors were dispatched to homes and tarpaulins put in place as soon as a day after the storm – compared to their neighbours, who were yet to see an assessor at the time of the interviews. Those OUTsurance spoke to said that they were very impressed with the service they had received and had high praise for the speedy response and level of engagement and compassion they experienced – so much so that one couple said they are considering switching their whole portfolio to the company. Although the hail storm struck fast and hard, OUTsurance is proud of its ability to go the extra mile with its excellent service – in record time.
